Module Description:  Ageism is the final frontier. The last socially acceptable "ism". We fight back against racism, sexism and homophobia, bur ageism seems to be largely acceptable. Why? And how can we productively challenge assumptions about older adults that are not accurate? Participants in this module will understand a fundamental definition and ageism, how it impacts older adults and how to fight it.

Learning Objectives

  • An increased understanding of the definition of ageism and current societal attitudes
  • An increased understanding of the biological, psychological, sociological and spiritual impacts of ageism
  •  Better tools for challenging ageist assumptions and viewing Elderhood
